Gameserver Downtime

posted by Fireburn on Wednesday, September the 24th at 3:39 PM

Hi there,

Another topic about downtime, this time it's the gameserver.
Our gameserver, from ServerFFS, is currently having troubles, due to Leaseweb having problems.
Leaseweb is currently being DDoSed, which means a botnet is attacking it. Our gameserver is located in this Leaseweb centre too.
This means that at the moment the gameserver is down, and you can't play there.
We will post an update here as soon as everything is working fine again.
We apologize for any inconvience.

Webserver Downtime

posted by Fireburn on Tuesday, September the 23rd at 10:30 PM

Hello there,

As you might know, our webserver is having some difficulties at the moment.
Since saturday our forums, our site, and our Teamspeak server have been struck by downtime.
Saturday evening we moved our forums to another server, so that they could stay online.
However, the main site and the Teamspeak server couldn't be moved, so they are still offline. [s]This means that registering your ingame account is not possible at the moment. We are working on this, and there should be a temporary register form online soon.[/s]
We hope to have all this sorted out in a few days, until then, the site, Teamspeak, bin.sa-mp.nl, and all other sa-mp.nl sites will be offline, except for the forums and the emergency-page on www.sa-mp.nl.
These problems do not affect anything ingame, so your ingame accounts will be safe.
We apologize for any inconvience.

On behalf of the LVP Management,
Fireburn

Update
We have just put up a register page, where you can register your account.
The register page is located here.

Another 2.90 Update from tomozj

posted by tomozj on Monday, September the 1st at 1:28 PM

Hi there. I'm tomozj - one of Las Venturas Playground's development team.

Recently as you should know, we've been working on a large sub-version update - "LVP 2.90". We've been assembling a beta team and testing as in-depth and often as we can, to ensure that we have as little bugs as possible, if not none. I'm here to discuss a large new feature I've been working on for the past few weeks, along with a couple of features that the lead developer Jay has been working on.

You can click any image to view it at its full resolution.

This minigame is the casino robbery minigame. Perhaps one of the largest minigames on LVP, the casino robbery minigame will certainly be one to play numerous times.

There are two teams - the attackers, and the casino defenders. Both teams can see its own team-members on the radar, and may operate within their own team-chat if needed but cannot see the other team's team-chat and cannot see them on the radar, bringing an element of stealth to this. The attackers have 7 minutes (may change in the future) to reach the base, by either helicopter (as seen above), or by one of the many cars available (as seen below).

The defenders will start from inside the casino, and must stand their guard and prepare for an entrance by the attackers via either the rooftop or the front door. Once inside, the attackers must make their way to the casino's back-end. Simply running through with pistols might not be enough against the armored and shotgun-wielding defenders - so the attackers must exercise caution when making their way.

As the clock ticks down, the attackers must hurry to the vault in order to plant charges on the vault door. As the vault door slowly opens, the attackers are required to steal the cash - using more people to speed up the process. This isn't as easy as it sounds with the defenders vitally trying to dampen the attackers' efforts using an array of weapons. Then, it's time to go. Again, the attackers may either choose the rooftop exit to parachute to a set of fast cars at the back, or storm to the front entrance where there are even more cars waiting for them. In an epic chase between the attackers and defenders, all defenders must reach their base before the clock ticks down to 0.

This minigame is still currently in development - if you'd like to suggest anything, then go for it in the comment section of the blog post.

Next up, is something Jay has been working on recently. We dislike the current bomb shops, as they aren't quite.. specific enough. Here's a screenshot of different types of explosions you may use:

There's currently numerous ways of detonating a bomb - something you'll hear more about in the future.

Another minigame which Jay has been working on is a.. widely known one. I guess I don't have to name this one:

To finish, remember that bar system we announced in a report? Well, when some things went hay-wire on the live server we were forced to use LVP 2.90 to check a bug. Here's a screenshot of some clowns .. getting fucked.

I'd like to note on behalf of the Las Venturas Playground Development Team that we don't know exactly when we will be releasing 2.90, however we're trying to do so as soon as possible, ensuring that playing experience will be as bug-free as possible.

Have fun on LVP,

tomozj
